In conversation with Parosha Chandran, a world leading expert, lawyer and Professor of Practice in Modern Slavery Law atThe Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London. Join us as we discuss Parosha's experiences of supporting and seeking justice for surivors of trafficking in the courts. We also examine growing on the perceived ‘activism’ of immigration and human rights lawyers in the UK.
Parosha is a highly regarded human rights barrister and a world-leading expert on the law relating to human trafficking. She also serves as a legal adviser on trafficking to UNICEF UK. Parosha represents adult and child survivors of human trafficking and has set critical legal trafficking precedents in the asylum, slavery, criminal non-punishment, civil and public law contexts. She has received many honours for her work including the Trafficking in Persons Hero Award 2015 for her ‘unparalleled achievements in providing legal services to survivors of modern slavery’. She is Senior Legal Advisor to the UK Parliament's Modern Slavery Project, supporting Commonwealth States to improve their trafficking and modern slavery laws. She also advised on the impacts of Covid-19 on modern slavery and child labour.
